Practical guide for parents who want to protect their children's skin
We know how important it is to enjoy the outdoors as a family. But we also know that the sun, although it fills us with energy, can be harmful to little ones' skin if precautions aren't taken.
Here we leave you a practical guide so you can enjoy the sun without worries, with real, easy-to-follow tips designed for life on the go.
1. Sun-protective clothing: your best ally
Sun-protective clothing with UPF50+ protection is a smart way to protect skin without complications. Unlike sunscreen, it doesn't require constant reapplication and works even when wet or covered in sand.
At Badawii we use certified fabrics that offer comfort and style, so children are safe while they play. Add a wide-brim hat and UV-protection sunglasses for complete sun defense.
2. Whenever you can, seek shade
Shade is essential, especially if your baby is under six months. You can take shelter under an umbrella, a leafy tree, a parasol or a beach tent with UPF50+ protection.
Avoid direct sun exposure between 10:00 and 16:00 hours, when UV rays reach their peak and are most harmful.
3. Use sunscreen where clothing doesn't reach
Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to exposed areas like the face, neck, hands and feet. Reapply every two hours, or more often if they sweat or swim.
4. Under six months? Lots of shade and avoid sun exposure as much as possible
For young babies under 6 months, it's ideal to avoid direct sun exposure, as their skin hasn't fully developed and they are especially vulnerable to ultraviolet radiation.
5. Hydration, comfort and breaks when it's hot
Sunny days can tire children more quickly. Make sure to offer water frequently, find shady places to rest and watch for signs of discomfort or redness.
Protecting well isn't complicated, it's being proactive
Combining sun-protective clothing, a bit of shade, appropriate sunscreen and good hydration is enough to enjoy to the fullest without worries.
At Badawii we always say: the best and most effective protection is the one we like to use. In general, children don't usually like to use creams, and that's where Badawii was born, as an alternative to traditional sun protection designed so our children love using it and adopt healthy protection habits.
